Plan Notes
Utilized lasagna method to create foundation of raised bed. First layer was to cover all of the bottom with cardboard next layer was firewood next layer was mushroom soil from Bartells May 15th I planted the vegetable plants and direct sewed seeds (see Journal). In the days following the planting some of the leaves appeared to be experiencing transplant shock (spotted, curling, wilted leaves - zucchini plants more than anything else appeared this way. May 18th, pruned the tomato plants as they started to flower. Cut off all stems under first flower May 19th I covered bed and plants with straw to help with moisture retention in the first two inches of soil. This was done in attempts to keep top soil moist for the benefit of the seeds. Moisture meter check revealed moist soil to depth of meter, but drier at the top 2 inches. May 20th added big bloom fertilizer in very small amount to top of bed. no signs of seedlings yet.
